"Judah", one of two low relief sculptures in the sanctuary of Kehilath Israel, Overland Park, Kansas
Unglazed stoneware, with small areas of bronze-colored glaze. The lion, symbol of the tribe of Judah, has the royal orb to show that King David was from the tribe of Judah and behind is the Tower of David, because when David ascended to the throne, the Tabernacle was moved to Jerusalem. The other sculpture in the sanctuary is of the tribe of Naftali.
